EptC(YijP) is responsible for the phosphoethanolamine (P-EtN) addition to heptose I of LPS; eptC is regulated by PhoBR; eptC mutants are sensitive to destabilization of the outer membrane by SDS, zinc and other compounds (Klein, 2013). EptC(YijP) was also characterized in Salmonella and named as CptA (Tamayo, 2005). The CptA name is used for the YgfX toxin in E. coli. EptAB family. EptC(YijP) is required for invasion of K1 into brain microvascular endothelial cells (Wang, 1999).
