Gene Name Mnemonic: inhibitor of SOS-induced toxicity Alternate Gene Symbols: psr19; psrA19 Description: sRNAs IstR-1 and IstR-2, tisB regulators |
MW: 45130.87 ---------140 nt | Pre-Run BlastN |
IstR-1 (75 bp) is initiated from an internal promoter; lstR-2 is lexA-regulated, possibly mitigating the lstR-1 antisense inhibition of residual TisB translation during the SOS response (Vogel, 2004). The antisense sRNA IstR binds to and blocks an upstream ribosome loading standby site required for translation initiation of TisB; ribosomes probably slide to the highly structured downstream TIR after loading; this results in RNase III cleavage of the active, processed +42 tisB mRNA to form an inactive +106 tisB mRNA (Darfeuille, 2007).
